I am not sure who wrote the nasty review on the bottom, but it does not describe the Dr. Itharat I know. I have seen Dr. Itharat many times in the last two years for severe dry eyes. He has provided wonderfully compassionate care during each visit. Dr. Itharat always takes the time to listen to my problems. Together, we have reached a point where my eyes do not hurt me everyday – that, in itself, is a godsend. I hope no one chooses not to see Dr. Itharat based on that nasty review, because you would miss seeing a great doctor.

I have seen Dr. Itharat several times and have been extremely pleased with his knowledge and overall care. I would certainly recommend him to anyone.

I'm writing this letter to commend the staff at Coastal Vision Center on Johnnie Dodds Blvd. as well as the administrative assistants at Mt. Pleasant Ophthamology...the latter in spite of the incredibly rude and unprofessional doctor for whom they work. I've lived in Mt. Pleasant for 5 years and recently needed to see someone about some problem I've had with redness and itchiness of my left eye. Following a preliminary visit to Mt. Pleasant Ophthamology on Beaucastel Road, during which the incredibly rude Dr. Itharat Prat declared that I needed to rest my eye for a week and then come back and see him for a follow up, I almost didn't return. The front desk attendant Laura's helpfulness and friendly demeanor prompted me to make that follow-up appointment. I returned a week later, eye still bothering me. I was called back to see Dr. Prat, who again was obviously annoyed that I had returned. He looked briefly at my eye and then said that there was still an infection and that he couldn't do anything so I would have to return in another week. I saw the doctor for less than a minute. This time, I did not make another appointment due to Dr. Prat's rudeness. I then went to see Dr. Katherine Kegel at the much more affordable and friendly Coastal Vision Center located inside the Walmart off Johnnie Dodds Blvd. Within a week, my eye cleared from the medicine she gave me. I returned for a follow-up visit a week later and everything was completely clear. I was not charged for the follow up visit since it was just that, a follow up to make sure everything was good. A week later, I received a bill in the mail from Mt. Pleasant Ophthamology for the follow up visit that lasted less than 5 minutes of total time. To summarize, I've paid Mt. Pleasant Ophthamology now...after they sent the bill to a collection agency and refused to refund/reduce the bill due to the fact that Dr. Prat did NOTHING on the second visit. Not only was he rude and unprofesional, but after being billed for the visit, I'm 100% sure that this doctor does not care at all for his patients and only wants to collect a payment from them. There are too many good doctors in the area for this to be the case and from now on I will go see Dr. Kegel and recommend her to everyone I know.
